# Airbnb

> Check the following before connecting Airbnb.

## Connecting Airbnb

  * The Airbnb account you want to connect
  * Chrome
  * A stable internet connection

### Step 1. Sign in to Airbnb in Chrome

Open Chrome, go to Airbnb, and sign in with your host account.

1. Launch Chrome.
2. Go to [Airbnb](https://www.airbnb.com/).
3. Sign in.
4. Leave that tab open. Do not close it.

  The signed-in tab has to stay open even after the integration is running. Close it and sync stops.

  Leave the Airbnb tab alone

  * The pinned Airbnb tab on the left of Chrome is doing the integration work. For a stable connection, touch it as little as possible.
  * To look something up on Airbnb, open a separate new tab instead of using the pinned one.

### Step 2. Install the Chrome extension

Install the VCMS extension from the Chrome Web Store and run it.

  Already have the extension? Skip to Step 3.

1. Install the [extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/vcms-%ED%81%AC%EB%A1%AC-%ED%99%95%EC%9E%A5-%ED%94%84%EB%A1%9C%EA%B7%B8%EB%9E%A8/fcjhlkhdjbehihbimdacnbclpmlchhpp).
2. Click the puzzle icon at the top right of the browser.
3. Click the VCMS extension to run it.

### Step 3. Run and set up the extension

Sign in to the extension with your VCMS account, pick the property, and press Airbnb's "Use" button.

1. Sign in with your VCMS account.
2. Pick the property to connect.
3. Press the Airbnb "Use" button.

<Warning>
  **Check before you press it.**

  * Chrome has to be signed in to Airbnb before you press "Use".
  * Make sure the Airbnb tab you opened in Step 1 is still there.

### Step 4. Connect the Airbnb property in VCMS and map packages

Back in VCMS, connect the Airbnb property and map the packages. That completes the connection.

  **Check before you map Airbnb.**

  * Connecting VCMS to Airbnb resets the promotions you set up on Airbnb.
  * Finish your inventory and rate setup in VCMS Distribution before mapping.
  * Map before Distribution is set up and inventory and rates you did not intend can land on Airbnb.
</Warning>

1. Go to the Channels menu in VCMS.
2. Select the Airbnb channel.
3. Connect the property you operate.
4. Link each Airbnb package to the VCMS package it corresponds to.
5. Press Save once every mapping is done.

  Package mapping can be changed any time afterwards in the VCMS channel settings.

## Things to watch

Once the channel is connected, bookings, inventory, and rates sync automatically. Keep to the following or sync will not hold.

| Item | What to do | Consequence |

| Chrome | Do not close the Chrome running the extension. | Closing it stops sync |
| Airbnb tab | Keep the signed-in channel tab open. | Closing it stops sync |
| Computer power | The computer has to stay on. | Shutting down stops sync |
| [Windows power settings](https://docs.vcms.io/en/faq/issue/airbnb-disconnected) | Set sleep and turn-off-screen to "Never". | Otherwise sync stops |

  **Important**

  * Close Chrome or the Airbnb tab after connecting and sync stops.
  * After rebooting the computer, open Chrome and the Airbnb tab again and sign back in.
  * Airbnb bookings, inventory, and rates sync every 5 minutes.

<Warning>
  Running several properties

  * With several properties, signing in to more than one Airbnb account in a single Chrome tab causes conflicts.
  * Sign in per property on separate PCs, separate browsers (Edge, Safari, and so on), or separate Chrome profiles.

## FAQ

### What if I reboot the computer or close Chrome by accident?

<Info>
  Start Chrome again and the Airbnb tab opens by itself.
</Info>

### How often does it sync?

<Info>
  Airbnb syncs every 5 minutes. As long as the integration is healthy, bookings, inventory, and rates sync on that cycle.
</Info>

### I run several properties. What then?

<Info>
  One Chrome profile connects one property. Add a Chrome profile and run Step 1 through Step 4 again.
</Info>

### Can I sync inventory only?

<Info>
  Turn off rate sync under Settings, Channels, channel packages, and only inventory syncs. Manage rates on Airbnb yourself.
</Info>

### I got a notification that the Airbnb integration dropped.

<Info>
  Sign in again from the Airbnb tab on the left of Chrome and it reconnects. If the notifications keep coming, check the network at your property.

### The extension is already installed. Do I have to install it again?

  If the extension is already there from another channel (Expedia, say) and you are adding Airbnb for the same property, you do not need to install anything. Skip Step 2 and start at Step 3.

  If you run several properties and connect two or more of them to the same channel, separate your Chrome profiles and install the extension in each profile.
